Abstract: In this series of talks, I will introduce the theory of singular support and characteristic cycles of étale sheaves on smooth variety of positive characteristic variety, due to A. Beilinson and T. Saito. As applications, I will firstly explain the study of wild ramification of étale sheaves after cutting by curves and the lower semi-continuity of Abbes-Saito’s ramification invariants; secondly, I will present a boundedness result for the wild ramification of the nearby cycles complex of an étale sheaf. These applications are partially joint with E. Yang and J.-B. Teyssier. The four talks is organized as follows:
1. Singular supports, characteristic cycles and their properties
2. Abbes-Saito’s ramification theory
3. Cutting-by-curves of wild ramification of étale sheaves
4. Ramification bound of nearby cycle complexes
