In this series of lectures, professor Mueller will give a systematic introduction to calculus of variation problems that arise in nonlinear elasticity. Topics discussed will include: Nonlinear plate theory, microstructures and weak convergence phenomena, Gamma convergence, rigidity theorems, and quasi-convexity. These concepts and techniques are becoming essential in nonlinear analysis. Potential audience includes graduate and advanced undergraduate students, as well as researchers in the field of nonlinear analysis.
