Abstract: In 3-manifold topology, L2 Alexander torsion is an invariant associated to any given compact 3-manifold. It is introduced by Dubois, Friedl, and Lueck generalizing an earlier particular version of Li and Zhang for knot complements. We overview basic properties of the invariant, and show the continuity and the nonvanishing of the invariant (as a real valued function on positive reals) in most cases of interest.
